Together We’ll Plant MORE Trees
Your $ goes further with the Tribe. Our projects are directly managed, maintained, mapped and monitored.
We use an innovative, proprietary system that puts more trees in the ground.
Support Local Species
Our efforts go towards planting more native trees rather than pine trees to bring back the land’s natural biodiversity and restore balance.
Revive New Zealand Forests
We can scale the number of trees we plant and undo many of the injustices done to the environment caused by logging and controlled burns.
Combat Climate Crises
With more trees, we can improve the quality of life for all beings with better air, purified drinking water, and reduced carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Planted and Measured
Every cent goes directly into native planting. We’ve secured land equivalent to 30 rugby pitches, ready for transformation. Each tree will be planted, mapped, and protected. Your donation will be allocated to a tree or trees. We’ll keep you updated with satellite imagery, allowing you to witness the landscape’s revitalization. Your support directly contributes to restoring New Zealand’s native ecosystems and a better future.
🌿Join The Mission to Get 100,000 Native Trees In The Ground
We’re embarking on a mission to revive and regenerate native forests in New Zealand by planting 100,000 trees and we need your support to make it happen.
Clearing land with chainsaws and fire sticks is simple, but regenerating an entire forest is a monumental task.
Since humans populated New Zealand, the country has lost over 8 million hectares of its natural forestland since 1840 through various deforestation efforts.
🌿 That’s the equivalent of over 11 million rugby pitches lost!
We’ve seen the extinction of numerous native species of plants and animals, putting many others at risk and further disrupting the delicate balance of the local ecosystems that have evolved over millennia.
🌿 By taking action, we will create a more beautiful and resilient landscape.
Our efforts will help mitigate climate change, support indigenous communities, and preserve our unique ecological heritage. By working together, we can transform our landscape into a flourishing tapestry of native flora, supporting both wildlife and human communities alike.
Let’s get 100,000 trees planted and help kickstart the natural rhythm of the land to heal itself and create wilder, more biodiverse habitat, as it did over 1,000 years ago.
Reviving New Zealand’s Native Forests
Rewilding in 3 Steps
Step 1: Seed Sowing
It all begins with a single seed. We carefully select and sow native seeds, ensuring the right species are planted in the right locations to kickstart the regeneration process. Each seed is a small step towards restoring New Zealand’s natural biodiversity.
Step 2: Community Collaboration
Regenerating forests is no easy task. We partner with local communities, schools, and volunteers to nurture and care for these young plants. Together, we create a shared sense of purpose and stewardship, fostering a collective commitment to bringing native forests back to life.
Step 3: Nature’s Healing
Once the seeds are sown and the community is engaged, we step back and allow nature to do what it does best. Natural processes gradually take over, repairing ecosystems and restoring the balance. This is rewilding at its core—enabling the land to heal and thrive, creating a wilder, more biodiverse landscape for future generations.”

How We Get The Job Done
Seed Bombs
After many months of experimentation, we’ve developed incredible seed bombs that can outperform direct planting by up to 100% in some species.
Land Secured
Working with land owners we’ve secured degraded land equivalent to 30 rugby pitches ripe for transformation. By reforesting these areas, we’ll not only beautify our landscape but also contribute to climate resilience and ecological health across New Zealand.

Seed Hunter Adventure Day
Seed Hunter Day is the perfect way to engage the youth and instill a love for the environment while taking care of our future generations.
Students enjoy a delightful, mud-filled adventure, where they learn all about New Zealand’s native plants and animals, collect seeds, and make seed bombs that help rewild our beautiful country.
What an incredible Seed Hunter Day at Tasman School! 🌳
🌱 The students learned all about New Zealand’s native plants and animals, collected seeds, and made seed bombs to help rewild our beautiful country.
But the real highlight?
When we introduced mud into the mix! 💥 The afternoon turned into a delightful, mud-filled adventure with the kids giggling, squealing, and frolicking in pure joy.
Seeing their beaming faces and enthusiasm for nature was truly inspiring. The Seed Hunter Days are the perfect way to engage youth and instill a love for the environment. This memorable day proved that getting a little muddy is a small price to pay for nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards! 🌿
Whenu iti Seed Hunters
The Tasman Mission event was a huge hit, with the kids going wild over The Seed Hunter Tribe’s seed bomb station! While tackling fun eco-challenges like bike repairs and orienteering, the undisputed favorite was getting messy making seed bombs. The tribe’s hands-on approach had the kids squealing with delight as they molded mud and seeds, their joyful faces showing the magic of connecting with nature. Environmental education has never been so engaging!
AFFORDABLE FLORA

The Seed Hunter Tribe Trust
Mission Statement
The Seed Hunter Charitable Trust is dedicated to promoting biodiversity, native reforestation, and the conservation of native plant species and environments. Our mission involves educating and engaging with communities, schools, and partner organizations to foster a deeper understanding of native ecosystems and the importance of seed harvesting and propagation.
Through initiatives such as Seed Hunter Days and educational field trips, we empower participants to learn about natives, seed harvesting, and sowing/propagation techniques. Additionally, we explore innovative approaches to large-scale rewilding, including the use of seed bombs and drones. Our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship guides our efforts to support the flourishing of New Zealand’s natural landscapes.
